Kilkeel Police Patrol Leads To Drug Arrest
A man aged in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of numerous drug-related offences in Kilkeel.
Police stopped the man in the early hours of this morning (18 June) after previously observing a vehicle being driven in a suspicious manner while on patrol in the Scrogg Road area.
Sergeant Gracey said: "The vehicle was stopped a short time later in the Newry Street area and following searches, officers seized a sum of cash and a quantity of suspected Class A controlled drugs." The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A controlled drug, possession of a Class A controlled drug with intent to supply and possessing criminal property.
Sergeant Gracey continued: "This detection is another example of how our officers are working to tackle the issue of drugs.
"I appeal to anyone with concerns about suspected drugs activity, or information about suspected drug dealing, to report it to police or to Crimestoppers. Your information can make a difference."

A total of 45 people have been arrested in the past 48 hours in Gardaí a crackdown on the sale and supply of heroin and 'crack' cocaine in the Dublin region. The operation, which involved Garda drug units from Kevin Street, Pearse Street and Store Street stations, resulted in 150 charges being brought, according to Gardaí this morning.
