Man Charged Following Serious Assault In North Belfast

A man has been charged to court following a serious assault in north Belfast that occurred on Tuesday, 8 July. The incident, reported to police at approximately 16:40, saw a young woman suffer serious injuries in the Brucevale Park area. She remains in a critical condition in hospital.

On Wednesday, 9 July, a 21-year-old man was formally charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, common assault, and criminal damage.

He is scheduled to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court today, Thursday, 10 July. As is standard procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

Inspector Philip McCullough urged anyone with information to come forward. "We received a report at around 16:40 on Tuesday, 8th July that a young woman had been seriously assaulted in the Brucevale Park area. She remains in hospital in a critical condition," he stated.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the assault, or who possesses CCTV or other footage that could assist with police enquiries, to contact them on 101, quoting reference 1144 of 08/07/25. A 54-year-old man has been charged with assisting offenders in connection with a serious assault reported in the Breezemount Close area of Conlig on Tuesday, 07 January.
