Man charged over serious assault

A 46-year-old man has been charged with grievous bodily harm and is expected to appear before Armagh Magistrates Court later today.

The charge relates to a serious assault on a man in Banbridge on September 29. Police discovered the victim in the Newry Street area as they tried to keep rival factions apart. The man remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Meanwhile, a second person has also been charged in connection with the attack and he is expected to appear before magistrates in Banbridge on October 3 charged with affray.

Omagh bomb suspect formally charged with 29 murders
A Co Armagh man has been formally charged with the murders of 29 people in the 1998 Omagh bombing. Sean Gerard Hoey, 35, from Jonesborough, appeared at Craigavon Magistrates Court on Thursday and stood during the 10 minute hearing during which he was also charged with possessing explosives and causing an explosion.

Man Charged With Attempted Murder
A 35-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder over an attack in Coleraine, Co L'Derry. The victim, aged in his 50s, is in a critical condition after being assaulted at a house on the Ballycastle Road on Monday, 26 September. The suspect is due to appear at Coleraine Magistrates' Court on Monday, 17 October.

Four Teens Charged Over Burglaries In Co Down
Four teenagers have been charged in connection with a number of burglaries in Co Down. The males, aged 16, 17, 18 and 19, were arrested in Banbridge on Tuesday, 03 May, following reports of suspicious activity and burglaries in the Dromore Road and Laurel Heights areas.

Man Arrested Over George Gilmore Murder
Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with the murder of loyalist George Gilmore. Mr Gilmore, aged 44, was shot in the neck in Carrickfergus on Monday, 13 March. He died from his injuries in hospital the following day, 14 March. A 32-year-old man arrested on Sunday, 19 March, has been released.

Seven Charged With Strickland Murder
A fourth man has been charged with the murder of Phillip Strickland in Comber last week, bringing the total to seven. The 36-year-old was found in a car on Quarry Road, off the Ballydrain Road, near Comber on Wednesday last. He had been shot several times and was declared dead in hospital a short time later.
