Man Extradited From Ireland To Face Sexual Assault Charges
A 41-year-old man has been extradited from the Republic of Ireland to Northern Ireland today in connection with sexual assault and handling stolen goods offences that occurred in Belfast in April 2019.
The man, who was originally arrested by the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) at the time of the offences, had skipped bail and has been a wanted person since. He was located and arrested in the Republic of Ireland on Thursday, 21 June 2025, on foot of an extradition warrant. Extradition proceedings were finalised on Thursday, 31 July, resulting in his return to Northern Ireland.
Sergeant Davey from the PSNI’s International Policing Unit commented: "We continue to work closely with our law enforcement partners to locate and return persons sought for extradition. The Police Service of Northern Ireland is committed to tackling violence against women and girls and today’s extradition delivers on our assurance of the relentless pursuit of perpetrators and supporting victims."

Two Men Arrested In L'Derry On Italian Extradition Warrants
Two men have been arrested in L'Derry on Wednesday 4th December on Italian extradition warrants. The men, aged 67 and 29, are wanted in Italy to serve prison sentences for serious assault and child cruelty offences. The crimes allegedly took place in the Brescia area between 2015 and 2019.

A bomb-blasted former soldier has appeared in court in Belfast charged with rape and false imprisonment. Gerald Verner, 23, of Forthriver Park, who was deafened by a bomb in Afghanistan, is also accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm, sexual assault and threats to kill against the same woman.
