Man Charged After Laser Pointed At Police Helicopter In Lurgan
Police have charged a 20-year-old man after a laser beam was reportedly directed at a police helicopter yesterday evening, Monday, 18 August 2025.
The incident took place at around 11.15pm in the Victoria Street area of Lurgan.
The man has been charged with shining or directing a laser beam towards a vehicle, endangering the safety of a vehicle, and shining a light to dazzle or distract a pilot.
He is expected to appear before Craigavon Magistrates Court on Friday, 12 September 2025. As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
The incident took place at around 11.15pm in the Victoria Street area of Lurgan.

Communities Minister Gordon Lyons has announced an additional £2.5 million in funding for the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) to boost homeless prevention services. The announcement was made during a visit to the final training session for the Northern Ireland teams competing in the Homeless World Cup in Oslo at the end of August.
