Coalisland Road Upgrade To Begin In September
A £1.6 million road improvement scheme is set to begin on the A45 Ballynakilly Road, Coalisland, with the aim of enhancing safety and commercial connectivity in the area.
The project, which has been awarded by the Department for Infrastructure to Charles Brand Group Ltd, includes a total bridge replacement and a major road realignment.
The works, which are expected to commence in September and be completed by summer 2026, will see Creenagh Bridge replaced. The scheme will also include the addition of improved active travel footways, designed to provide better access for pedestrians. Minister for Infrastructure, Liz Kimmins, said the road realignment would assist with heavy goods vehicle movement and improve commercial connectivity for local businesses. She added that the scheme would also improve safety for all road users.
Due to the scale of the works, a full road closure will be required at certain times during the project, with a temporary traffic diversion put in place. The diversion will route traffic via the B520 Moor Road, B161 Annagher Road, Coalisland Town, and the B520 Dungannon Road.
Road users are advised to allow extra time for journeys in the vicinity of the works and to comply with all temporary traffic arrangements.
