Glens knocked out of Uefa Cup
Glentoran have been knocked out of the Uefa Cup following a 2-1 defeat in Sweden on Thursday.
The Belfast side had it all to do going into this second qualifying round second leg tie against IF Elfsborg following their 1-0 first leg defeat at the Oval two weeks ago.
However, striker Michael Halliday gave Roy Coyle's side hope when headed the Glens into a 1-0 lead on 27 minutes to level the tie on aggregate at 1-1.
Unfortunately for the hundreds of away supporters who had travelled over to the game, the home side hit back shortly before half time though Andreas Klarstrom taking the overall tie to 2-1 in favour of the home side.
In the second half the Glens gave as good as they got but following two squandered chances by midfielder Darren Lockhart, Elfsborg settled the tie with a goal by Joakim Alexanderson on 78 minutes.
Last night's defeat mean the Glens most now concentrate on domestic matters with the Daily Mirror Irish League commencing next month.
Elfsborg, meanwhile, face Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb in the Uefa Cup first round proper following Friday's draw of the competition.

McIlroy's job in question following Greek defeat
Sammy McIlroy's job as Northern Ireland manager was in doubt today following last night's 2-0 defeat by Greece in Belfast. Although Sammy's team had two men sent off thanks to what the crowd considered to be some dubious refereeing decisions, it is now 792 playing minutes since Northern Ireland scored a goal and 17 months since the side won.

Glentoran to take on Swedish side in Uefa Cup
Glentoran will face Swedish side Elfsborg in the first leg of the Uefa Cup second qualifying round. Friday's draw follows the Belfast's side 4-3 aggregate win against Finnish opponents AC Allianssi on Thursday, their first victory in Europe for 23 years.

Appeal Following Arson Attack In L'Derry
PSNI detectives have issued an appeal for information following a serious arson attack in the Clon Dara area of L'Derry on Saturday, 23 November. Shortly before 8.20pm, police received a report that an accelerant had been used to ignite the front door and letterbox of a house in the area.

Pedestrian Injured In Belfast Hit-and-Run
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a hit-and-run incident in the Botanic Avenue area of Belfast in the early hours of Thursday morning. Officers were called to the scene shortly before 1.30am after a male pedestrian was struck by a maroon Mazda. Despite being injured, the pedestrian left the area before police arrived.
