Orange Hall destroyed in blaze

Arsonists are thought to have been behind an attack on an Orange Hall near Newry at the weekend.

The Commons Orange Hall on the outskirts of Newry City was destroyed by fire in the early hours of Saturday morning.

UUP Assembly member Danny Kennedy said he believed the blaze was malicious and described the incident as "despicable".

Sinn Fein Assembly member Davy Hyland said the fire was the work of "mindless vandals or something more sinister".

“Those carrying out these attacks, whether it is the work of mindless vandals or something more sinister, should understand that their actions will find no support in any community."

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
