Peace Boat arrives in Belfast
The world famous Peace Boat has arrived in Northern Ireland as part of its 46th world trip.
The Japanese vessel arrived in the province on Wednesday for a two-day visit which will focus on youth activism and community work in Belfast, before heading of to the United States for the 3rd anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist atrocities in New York.
Matt Millar, Deputy Director of Ballynafeigh Community Development Association, said: "It has been a massive undertaking by the staff and volunteer team at Ballynafeigh Community House and an ambitious project for a community organisation to tackle. Peace Boat will bring over £100,000 of revenue to Northern Ireland in the two days it docks.
"This is a massive boost to the local economy and emphasises the vital role the community and voluntary sector has in terms of the revenue it generates and jobs it sustains in the economy."
Hosted by the Ballynafeigh Community Development Association supported by Tourism Ireland, the Peace Boat is currently docked at Stormont Wharf in Belfast.
