Man stabbed to death during robbery
A man has died after being stabbed in the chest during a robbery at his home in south Belfast at the weekend.
The victim was asleep at his Glenburn Road home in Dunmurry when he was awoken by a noise at around 5.30am on Sunday.
When the man went to investigate he was confronted by four men who proceeded to stab him several times. They then made off on foot in the direction of Upper Dunmurry Lane.
Detectives have appealed for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area to contact them.
Elsewhere, a shop assistant has been stabbed at a shop in the Stranmillis area of south Belfast at the weekend.
Two men armed with a screwdriver entered the shop at Stranmillis Road at around 6.15pm on Saturday and demanded money and cigarettes.
A struggle then ensued and the assistant was stabbed in the shoulder. An elderly man who entered the shop as the incident took place was pushed down the back of the premises, while a female companion was assaulted and had her purse stolen.
The robbers eventually fled with a quantity of cigarettes, cash and cash cards.
Both males are described as being 30 years of age. One was 6” tall, of large build, clean shaven with noticeably large hands. He was wearing a long dark coat and a dark grey beanie style hat. The other male is described as being around 5’ 8” tall and of medium build.
Anyone who was in the Stranmillis Road area and may have seen the men or noticed any suspicious activity is asked to contact detectives at Musgrave Street on 028 9065 0222.

Businesses Damaged By Blaze In Portstewart
An investigation has launched after a number of businesses were damaged by a blaze in The Diamond in Portstewart. The alarm was raised at 5am on Monday, however fire crews were called back at around 9.30am. A chip shop, coffee shop and hairdressers were damaged as a result. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

Meat Cleaver Robber Sought
A female shop assistant has been threatened with a meat cleaver during a robbery in west Belfast. A man carrying a cleaver entered an off-licence on the Springfield Road at about 4pm on Tuesday and demanded cash from the till - escaping with an undisclosed sum of money. The woman was unhurt but said to be badly shaken.

A female shop worker has been stabbed following a robbery in Bangor at around 1pm this afternoon. A man armed with a knife entered the newsagent’s shop on Gray’s Lane and stabbed the woman before taking off with a sum of money from the till.

A self employed children's toy shop owner has been jailed for five years for attempting to smuggle Class B drugs into the UK in containers of toys. Kristopher Scott, 33, from Ballymoney, was arrested in November 2013 after Border Force officers seized 24kgs of Methylmethcathinone in childrens ride on cars and mechanical fish.
