Derry gunshot victim dies in hospital
The 22-year-old man who was shot in the head in Co Londonderry earlier this week has died.
Darren Thompson, from Harkness Gardens in the Waterside, was found lying at the roadside in Woodburn Park on Wednesday morning with a bullet wound to the head.
His family had been keeping a bedside vigil for him at Altnagelvin hospital however he died of his injuries on Friday.
Police are still questioning two men about the attack which officers described as “brutal”.

Work Underway For Free Hospital Parking In Northern Ireland
Work has begun at several hospital sites across Northern Ireland as part of the preparations for the introduction of free car parking in May 2026. Health and Social Care Trusts have been actively preparing for the implementation of a new traffic management system since the Hospital Parking Charges Act was passed in 2022.

Three released as murder investigation continues

Banbridge PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a shooting incident. A man, aged in his 20s, suffered minor head wounds when a suspected shotgun was fired at a house on Railway Street, Banbridge at about 8.15pm on Wednesday 22 September. Police have said that two men and a woman were in the house at the time of the incident.

Teen Injured After Being Hit By Van In South Belfast
A teenager has been injured after being hit by a van in south Belfast. The incident happened on the Rosetta Road at around 8.30am on Monday, 30 January. The 17-year-old boy has been taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital and is being treated for a suspected head injury. The road was closed but has since been reopened.
