Gault cleared of murdering husband
A woman convicted of murdering her husband has been found not guilty following a new trial at Omagh Crown Court.
After three trials spanning two years, Lesley Gault, 35, who has always denied the charge, appeared before Court on Friday to hear the verdict.
Her husband, Paul Gault, was found beaten to death in the bedroom of his Audley Avenue home in Lisburn, on May 19 2000.
Gordon Graham, 42, was jailed in December last year for the murder and will serve at least 20 years in prison.
Mrs Gault was convicted by a majority verdict at Belfast Crown Court in March after three days of deliberation by the jury.
However, in July 2004, the Lord Chief Justice, Sir Brian Kerr, headed an appeal panel which quashed that outcome and ordered a re-trial.
