The 11-metre vessel, which had been fishing for lobster and crabs, was expected back in port at 1pm on Wednesday, but was reported overdue when it failed to return.
The Coastguard, and fisheries protection vessel the Ken Vickers, had been concentrating their search on an area between Dundrum Bay and Dundalk Bay, about six miles east of Kilkeel, before Thursday morning’s development near the Isle of Man.
Five RNLI lifeboats, those from Kilkeel, Newcastle, Donaghadee, the Isle of Man and Clogher Head in the Republic of Ireland, have also been involved in the search along with two helicopters and around 20 local fishing boats.
