Firebomb discovered in Belfast shop
A controlled explosion has been carried out on an incendiary-type device found in a Belfast City centre shop yesterday evening.
Army Bomb Disposal officers were called in following a security alert at a wallpaper shop in North Street on Wednesday night.
The remains of the device have been removed for forensic examination.
This morning a bomb alert sparked by a suspect object found in the City's Cathedral Quarter has been declared a hoax. As a precautionary measure, Hill Street was sealed off for a time while security personnel examined a package left outside DoE offices.
Police have urged traders to be vigilant in the run-up to the Christmas shopping period.

Businesses Damaged By Blaze In Portstewart
An investigation has launched after a number of businesses were damaged by a blaze in The Diamond in Portstewart. The alarm was raised at 5am on Monday, however fire crews were called back at around 9.30am. A chip shop, coffee shop and hairdressers were damaged as a result. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

Northern Ireland has the highest shop vacancy rates in the UK according to recent figures. Research carried out by the British Retail Consortium has revealed that 14% of shops across the country are lying empty and this is compared to a national rate of 11%.

Man's body found in Belfast
A man's body has been found in Belfast city centre on Wednesday. The body was found at Fulton Street, near the city centre shortly before 9am. It was immediately reported to police who have cordoned off the area. There are no further details at present.

Shops Damaged In Bangor, Co Down
A number of shops in Bangor's town centre have been damaged in an attack. Police have said the incident occurred in Main Street in the town in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Windows were smashed at a number of properties, including The Mortgage Shop, Asda and Boots, while damage was also caused to vehicles in the area.
