Police launch murder inquiry in Londonderry
Police have launched a murder inquiry after a man was found dead in Londonderry last night.
The 37-year-old victim was found in a laneway close to a bar in Dungiven Road, Waterside, at about 7pm on Tuesday. He is believed to have suffered serious head injuries following a fight outside the bar and was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital where he died a short time later.
Three men have been arrested and are being questioned about the incident and police have appealed for any witnesses to contact them.
Elsewhere in Co Londonderry overnight, a pensioner has been attacked during a robbery at her home in Coleraine.
A gang of masked and armed men forced their way into the woman’s home in the Harpurs Hill area of the town before smashing up her belongings.
The victim was later treated in hospital however her injuries are not thought to be serious.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Two Shot In Separate 'Punishment' Attacks
There have been further incidences of so-called paramilitary-style 'punishment' shootings. Following an unconnected attack on Monday night on a convicted sex offender in Londonderry, four men entered a house in the Creggan Heights area of the city at approximately 10.30pm on Wednesday. They shot their 26-year-old victim in both legs.

Arrests follow disturbances in County Londonderry
Two people have been arrested, following disturbances on the Glenshane pass in County Londonderry last night, during which a number of people were injured. It has been reported that a number of loyalists travelling on the main Belfast to Londonderry road by minibus, caused damage to a mural in a nationalist area.
