Man remanded in custody charged with Derry murder
A man has been remanded in custody today after being charged with the murder of a father-of-four in Londonderry.
Paul Andrew John McGinley from Shepherds Glen appeared before a Londonderry court today accused of murdering Tony McNamee on Tuesday.
The accused made no reply when charged and was remanded in custody to appear by video link on 23 December.
Mr McNamee, 37, a kitchen assistant of Seven Oaks, Waterside, was found in a laneway close to a bar in Dungiven Road, Waterside, at about 7pm on Tuesday.
He is understood to have suffered serious head injuries following an incident outside the bar. Taken to Altnagelvin Hospital Mr McNamee died a short time later.

Nelson Watson, 59, from Clanmorris Street in the Tiger's Bay area of the city, is accused of the murder of 42-year-old Barbara Taggart, who is understood to have died after a fire in his flat, on Saturday night.

A 27-year-old man has appeared in court on Friday charged with the murder of a local musician in Londonderry last week. Alan Luukas, of Riverview Court Apartments, John Street, in the city, is accused of killing James Gilchrist, 62, whose body was found in the River Foyle on Wednesday 28 September.

Two men remanded in custody charged with hostel murder
Two men were remanded in custody today charged with the murder of a man at a Belfast hostel last week. The body of Eric Atkinson, 41, was found at the Lee Hestia hostel in Brunswick Street in the early hours of Wednesday March 3. Only one of the men appeared at Belfast Magistrates' Court on Monday.
