Second man charged over Derry murder

A second man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Tony McNamee in Londonderry last week.

The 37-year-old kitchen assistant died from serious head injuries after a fight outside a bar in Dungiven Road on 23 November.

Mark John O'Donnell, 36, from Shepherd's Glen in the Waterside, denied murdering Mr McNamee, a colleague, during the altercation.

A detective sergeant told the court that when he charged the accused with the murder, he replied: "I did not murder anybody."

Mr O'Donnell was remanded in custody when he appeared at Londonderry Magistrates Court on Friday and is expected to appear in court again by video link on 23 December.
