Police launch investigation into student death

Police have launched an investigation into the death of a student who fell and hit his head during an incident at a bus stop in Co Antrim.

Christopher Curran, 20, died in hospital on Sunday following an argument with youths in Crumlin at around 10.20pm on Saturday.

It is believed Mr Curran and his brother were returning from an event at their local football club when the incident took place.

A 16-year-old youth was arrested following the incident in Main Street, and later released by the police.

Local SDLP assembly member Thomas Burns described the death as a “tragedy for the family and the village”.

Police have ruled out any sectarian motive in relation to the death and have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
