Garda investigating schoolboy's murder arrest man
Garda detectives have arrested a man for questioning in connection with the murder of 11-year-old Cork schoolboy, Robert Holohan.
The 20-year-old man was detained in the Midleton area on Sunday evening and taken to Cork Garda station where he will be questioned today (Monday). He may be held for up to 12 hours.
The body of the 11-year-old schoolboy was found on Wednesday, January 12, in dense undergrowth near to Inch Strand in east Cork about 12 miles from his home in Ballyedmond.
A post-mortem revealed that the boy had died from asphyxia but that he had not been sexually assaulted.
Robert had been missing since the early afternoon of Tuesday January 4 when he left home on his BMX-style bicycle.
At his funeral in Midleton hundreds of people lined the streets to watch as the cortege passed through the town to the service at the Holy Rosary Church.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a report of an assault at licenced premises at the Rathfriland Road area of Dromara. Detective Inspector Bell said: "Shortly before 10:10pm on Friday 15th December, it was reported that an altercation occurred at a bar in the area following three men refused entry to the premises.

Man Dies In Portadown Road Crash
An 18-year-old man has died following a collision in Portadown. The crash happened on the Dungannon Road between midnight and 12.30am on Wednesday, 08 November. The road has been re-opened. Elsewhere, a man, aged in his 30's, has died in a road collision in Co Antrim.

Man Released On Bail Over Lurgan Murder
A man arrested in connection with a murder in Lurgan on Sunday, 06 August, has been released on bail pending further enquiries. The body of a man, aged 45, was discovered at a flat on Victoria Street. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Man Shot In County Down
A 28-year-old man has been shot in the leg in a gun attack in County Down. The man was getting out of his car at the Quays in Killyleagh at about 1.00am on Wednesday morning when a man approached him and shot him. The man is recovering in hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Co Fermanagh man suffers broken nose in robbery
A Co Fermanagh man has suffered a broken nose after being assaulted by two men at his home in Enniskillen. The 65-year-old man was confronted by two men who forced their way into his home on Sunday. They then assaulted him before robbing his home. It is understood that a sum of money was taken during the robbery.
