Teenage girl indecently assaulted in Londonderry
Police are appealing for information after a teenage girl was indecently assaulted in Londonderry at the weekend.
The girl, believed to be 19-years-old, was standing near the lower deck of the Craigavon bridge waiting for a taxi at around 2.45am, when a maroon coloured saloon car pulled up beside her. The driver persuaded the girl to get into the car while she waited for her friend, but when she did he drove off.
He drove a short distance and stopped at the entrance of the Old Railway museum car park and indecently assaulted her. The girl eventually managed to struggle free from the man and get out of the car, before he sped off. She then rang friends who alerted police.
The man is described as being around 40-years-of-age, with light brown hair brushed forward and a slightly chubby tanned face. He was wearing a light grey sweatshirt and light blue jeans.
Anyone who saw a burgundy coloured saloon car, possibly a Ford Mondeo, anywhere in Derry City sometime after midnight, or offered a taxi by a man fitting this description, is asked to ring police at Strand Road on 028 7136 7337 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
