Funeral takes place of murder victim
The funeral of a man stabbed to death in Belfast city centre last week has taken place on Tuesday.
Father of two, Robert McCartney, 33, of Mountpottinger Road in east Belfast, died after being stabbed in a “pub fight” on January 30
More than 1,000 mourners attended today’s funeral with Requiem Mass taking place at St Matthew's Church on the Newtownards Road.
The police investigation into Mr McCartney’s death is continuing with almost 500 lines of inquiry being followed by detectives.
Police have refused to comment on claims that a tape was missing from the bar in which the fight took place, however detectives have confirmed that a large quantity of CCTV pictures are currently being examined.
On Sunday, officers revisited the scene of the murder and handed out leaflets in a bid to jog the memory of anyone who may have been there at the time.
