Two people escape injury following house fire
Two people have escaped injury following a blaze at a house in Co Armagh at the weekend.
A man in his 40s escaped injury following the fire in his home at Ashlea Gardens, Markethill, in the early hours of Saturday morning. He escaped through a window after he was wakened by smoke around 4am. It is understood the fire broke out in the hallway of the man’s home.
A neighbour who is believed to be in her 80s also escaped injury. Though police had to force their way into her house to ensure the pensioners safety.
Police examining the circumstances surrounding the blaze have appealed for anyone with information to contact detectives at Armagh on 028 3752 3311.

A woman and child have escaped injury after a gang of armed men attacked their home in east Belfast. The attack happened at a house in Fashoda Street at around 8.30pm on Tuesday, 14 February. The men, armed with hammers, smashed a number of windows at the property. A mother and her daughter were not injured, the PSNI have confirmed.

Two fire appliances from Antrim station and Ballymena station attended the scene. The man was treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation. Extensive damage was caused to the property.

A family in west Belfast have escaped almost certain death after their house was destroyed in an oil tank fire. The Fire Brigade believe the blaze, which erupted at Cresslough Court in the Lenadoon area, may have been started deliberately.
