Woman plucked from sea off County Down coast

A woman was rescued from the Irish Sea off the County Down coast by the Newcastle lifeboat on Thursday evening.

It is understood that the woman, who was treated in the Downe Hospital following her rescue, had fallen into the sea from the promenade in Newcastle.

Emergency services called to the scene requested the launch of the lifeboat and it is reported that the woman was in the sea for only a short time before being rescued.

Man Rescued From Sea On Antrim Coast
Larne lifeboat rescued an unconscious man from the sea near Larne promenade on Thursday night. The lifeboat was called at around 22:40 following reports of a man lying face down in the water. He was found about 150 metres from the promenade.

Carrick Sea Death 'Not Suspicious'
The police are treating the circumstances surrounding a woman's death in the sea off Co Antrim this morning as "not suspicious" and are now close to an identification of the victim. A spokesman said this morning "a line of enquiry regarding the woman's identity was being followed".

Three Arrested in L'Derry For Drug Offences
Police in L'Derry have arrested three people and seized drugs worth an estimated £600. The arrests were made following a proactive policing operation in the city. On Monday, 18 November, officers observed suspicious behaviour from a 39-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman in the Strand Road area.
