Police appeal for car accident witness to contact them

Police are appealing for a male cyclist who may have witnessed a road traffic collision in which one person later died to contact them.

The victim, aged in his mid-20s, was walking along the Whitewell Road just before 4.30pm on Monday when he was struck by a red VW Vento car. He was taken to hospital where he later died.

The male driver of the Vento car, also aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital however his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact detectives on 028 9065 0222.

Work Underway For Free Hospital Parking In Northern Ireland

Road crash victims named
Police have released the name of the one-year-old baby girl who died following a road traffic collision in County Tyrone yesterday morning. Rebecca Emilie Gault, from Castleview Park in Newtownstewart, was fatally injured during the crash between her mother's car and a van on the Deerpark Road in the town.

Man Dies In Three Car Collision In Dundrum
Police have issued an appeal for information following a fatal collision in Dundrum, Co Down. A 49-year-old man died at the scene of a three-car collision on the Belfast Road at about 12:20am on Thursday. It is understood that four other people are being treated in hospital following the collision.

Four die in separate road accidents
Four people have died following two separate road accidents on Monday night. In Co Londonderry two men travelling in the same car died when their vehicle collided with a van on the Magherafelt road outside Tobermore at around 6.15pm. They were Wilbert Ross, 54, and his 35-year-old son, also called Wilbert. Both men were from Tobermore.
