PSNI officers rewarded for 'outstanding service'
PSNI Chief Constable Hugh Orde has recognised examples of “outstanding service” within the force by awarding the Chief Constable's Highly Commended Awards at a ceremony on Thursday.
The Awards were handed to officers who demonstrated “courage, devotion to duty, and tenacity, in the face of adversity and personal danger” at a presentation ceremony at Belfast City Hall. More than 50 officers from across Northern Ireland received the award.
"These officers have shown unshakeable commitment to their role in protecting the community," said Mr Orde. "They have demonstrated that, whether on or off duty, they are willing to go that extra mile to ensure Northern Ireland is a safer place for everyone.
"Some have displayed heroism in their actions to protect and save lives and property. Others have made a great personal effort, in a quiet way to make the streets of Northern Ireland a safer place.”
Also attending today’s ceremony was Lord Mayor of Belfast, Tom Ekin, city councillors, and the Deputy Chairman of the Policing Board, Denis Bradley.
