Nine rescued in separate boating incidents
Three fishermen have been rescued after their boat capsized in Carlingford Lough in Co Down at the weekend.
The men managed to scramble onto the upturned hull of the mussel dredger during the incident at around 2.40am on Saturday.
The Belfast Coastguard immediately dispatched a lifeboat to pick up the men. However it is still unclear how their vessel capsized.
"We don't have a cause for the capsize at this time, the marine accident investigation branch will be looking into that,” a coastguard spokesperson said.
"I know the guys were putting out seed mussels, they weren't harvesting mussels, so we just don't know what happened."
Later on Saturday, six people were rescued from a sinking speedboat on Lough Erne in Co Fermanagh.
They managed to get onshore safely before the craft went down near Boa Island. No-one was injured in the incident.
Meanwhile, two children have had a lucky escape after getting out of the depth in waters of the north west coast on Sunday.
A mother and her two children, aged 10 and 12, were swimming in the sea at Portstewart, Co Londonderry, when the surf got quite high.
Fortunately, the woman grabbed one of her children while a passer-by jumped in and saved the other.
