Knife found close to scene of stabbing not murder weapon
A knife found close to the spot where 15-year-old Thomas Devlin was fatally stabbed earlier this month is not the murder weapon, police have confirmed.
The knife was discovered by a resident cutting a hedge at the rear of his house off the Landsdowne Road on Monday evening. But, detectives say they are not ruling the discovery out of the ongoing murder inquiry.
It is understood a police team visited the garden on Tuesday, however earlier today officers investigating the murder said they were not prepared to comment further on an ongoing inquiry.
Thomas was stabbed five times in the back as he returned home from buying sweets at a nearby garage with a friend on the Somerton Road on Wednesday, August 10th.
Last week, Thomas' funeral was held at the Church of the Resurrection on north Belfast's Cavehill Road before moving to Armoy in Co Antrim where he was buried.

Over 800 young people from schools in Lisburn and Castlereagh attended a hard-hitting road safety message at the PSNI Road Safe Roadshow on 19 November. The roadshow, supported by AXA Insurance and the Northern Ireland Road Safety Partnership, aims to educate young drivers about the dangers of irresponsible driving.
