Gang attack man with baseball bats
A man in his 60's has been beaten with baseball bats during an attack at his home in Co Londonderry on Sunday.
Three masked men forced their way into the victims house at Maple Drive in Coleraine between 10pm and 10.30pm. They then beat him about the head and body after he failed to hand money over when threatened.
It is believed the attackers then fled in a car waiting at the back of the house. The man's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
East Londonderry UUP Assembly member Norman Hillis described the attack as "sheer thuggery".
"People have a right to feel safe in their own homes and I would ask anyone in the area who knows anything about this brutal cowardly attack to help the police catch the culprits," he said.
Police have appealed for anyone with information about the attack to contact them on 028 9065 0222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
