New paper aims to unite unionism
Over 200,000 copies of a newspaper which will "promote unionist and loyalist views" is to be delivered across Northern Ireland, it was revealed on Monday.
The "Love Ulster Campaign", which is being backed by victims' groups and the Orange Order, aims to unite unionists and loyalists across the province in the fight to keep Northern Ireland British and highlight what the organisers see as Government pandering to the IRA.
About 200 people gathered in Larne for the launch of the newspaper which is being put together by the publishers of the Shankill Mirror newspaper in Belfast. The newspapers, along with publicity posters, were brought by boat into Larne in a re-creation of the delivery of guns to the old Ulster Volunteer Force in 1914 in response to the threat of Home Rule in Ireland.
A website has also been launched (www.loveulster.com) which the organisers claim has attracted over 300 registered visitors.
