Business centre jobs boost for Portadown
Plans to provide more jobs in a disadvantaged area of Portadown took a step forward this week with the official opening of an extension to the Mayfair Business Centre.
The new high specification workspace units, ranging from 350 sq ft to 750 sq ft have already attracted six new businesses providing 21 jobs, with over 4,900 sq ft of space added to the existing building.
Speaking at the official opening, International Fund for Ireland Board Member, Helen Kirkpatrick, said: “Helping to create the conditions where business and enterprise can flourish has been a priority for the Fund and Mayfair has been at the forefront of the efforts to create sustainable business and sustainable jobs in Portadown and those efforts are being rewarded.”
Nuala Kerr, Deputy Chief Executive, SEUPB, said: “The opening of this additional workspace will provide opportunities for economic renewal and will help to pave the way to social integration and inclusion.
“We in the Special EU Programme Body believe that these facilities will also provide opportunities for regeneration and development which will improve prosperity and empower people.”
The Mayfair Business Centre, which was developed with support from the International Fund for Ireland in 1994 on the site of the former Mayfair Stitching Company, now comprises 43,250 sq ft of lettable space and currently provides employment for 100 people.
The Centre has been developed on a 6.5 acre site, approximately half of which is still available for development.

1,000 jobs to be created in Belfast
