Families 'put out' following gas warning
A number of families have had to spend the night away from their homes following a gas warning in Co Tyrone.
Twenty-four families were evacuated from their houses in Hunter Crescent, Omagh, after a gas cylinder was discovered close to the scene of a nearby fire which was being dealt with by fire crews.
Although the fire was quickly put out a 200 metre exclusion zone was put in place around the area as a safety measure and the area remained cordoned off on Friday.
Omagh District Council said a local leisure centre has been placed on standby as an emergency reception centre and that the emergency plan had been put in place in liaison with the PSNI and social services representatives from Sperrin Lakeland Trust.
As of Friday evening there was still no new information.
