Police investigate attempted robbery
Police in Portadown are investigating an attempted armed robbery of a cash delivery van at a shop on the Garvaghy Road on Tuesday.
It’s understood that two men, one carrying a knife and the other a handgun, approached two cash deliverymen in the shop at around 2pm.
One of them gestured towards the deliverymen with the knife holding it above one of their heads whilst the other male pointed the gun at the other member of staff.
The two men then made off empty handed in a black car up the Garvaghy Road away from the town centre. Both were wearing fluorescent bibs, baseball caps and scarves over the lower part of their face.
Police believe that these two men walked up the Garvaghy Road from the town centre before entering the shop and detectives are appealing for anyone who may have seen them prior to 2pm or have any other information to contact them on 028 3833 2424 or via the new non-emergency number on 0845 600 8000.
Alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
