Gillespie declared fit for Portugal game
Keith Gillespie has been declared fit for Northern Ireland ahead of Tuesday night's 125th anniversary glamour friendly against Portugal at Windsor Park.
The Sheffield United winger had his ankle strapped up after picking up an injury during training on Sunday, however the Northern Ireland medical team say he will be fit enough to earn his 68th cap for his country.
However, if Gillespie makes the starting 11, which he is expected to do, he will almost certainly line up as an emergency right back following the injuries of captain Aaron Hughes and Chris Baird.
He will be joined in defence by Colin Murdock, Stephen Craigan and Tony Capaldi while Maik Taylor will marshal the back line in goal, as well as captaining the side.
In midfield, things are even more sparse for Lawrie Sanchez's side as Damien Johnson is also injured. Lining up in his place in the middle of the park alongside Steve Davis is likely to be Cheltenham's Grant McCann. On either side of these two will be Stuart Elliott and Steve Jones.
Up front, James Quinn will partner Warren Feeney, who replaces record goalscorer David Healy, out with an ankle injury. Kick off is at 8pm with the game being shown live on BBC2 NI.
NI probable: Taylor, Gillespie, Murdock, Craigan, Capaldi, Jones, Davis, McCann, Elliott, Quinn, Feeney.
