Limavady solicitor released on High Court bail
A Limavady solicitor has been granted bail in the High Court today.
Manmohan Sandhu, 41, of Colby Avenue in Londonderry was remanded in custody yesterday charged with attempting to incite a murder. He was also charged with four counts of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
During today's hearing, it was alleged that Mr Sandhu had used his position as a solicitor to pass information to members of the UVF.
Police believe that he did this by using his mobile phone from a consultation room at Antrim police station.
The prosecution claimed that on one occasion Mr Sandhu phoned an unknown person, indicating that a taxi driver recovering in hospital from gunshot wounds, should be "taken out".
Yesterday, the accused replied "definitely not guilty" when charged with the offences.
Mr Sandhu was granted bail at the hearing today, on the condition that he surrenders his Indian passport and stays out of Antrim police station's serious crime facility.
