Two people escape injuries after arson attack
Two people have escaped injury following an arson attack on their County Down home.
The Fire Service has revealed that a number of fires broke out at their home in the Grange Manor area of Kilkeel at around 3.30 this morning.
The man and his daughter managed to escape from the blaze before fire fighters arrived, and the woman was later taken to hospital, where she was treated for the effects of smoke inhalation.
The house was not badly damaged by the fire.
Police have stated that they believe the fire may have been started under suspicious circumstances and are launching an investigation into the cause.
Meanwhile, a man has managed to escape from a house fire in the Severn Street area of east Belfast.
It is understood that he woke up during the early hours of this morning to find the living room was alight.
He managed to escape through the back door of the property, and substantial damage is believed to have been caused.
It is thought that the blaze may have been started by a candle.
