Mother freed by young daughter after robbery

A four-year-old girl freed her mother after two robbers who ransacked their Antrim home had left her tied her up in a bedroom.

Two men pushed their way into a house close to the Antrim Area Hospital, when the 46-year-old woman answered the door. They forced her into the bedroom where they tied her up.

The men then took cash and other items before they made off.

The woman's four-year-old daughter, who was in the house, was able to free her mother who then alerted police. Neither was injured, but were said to be badly shaken by the ordeal.

A police spokesperson said that both men are thought to be in their mid-20s.

The car they used is believed to have headed towards either Antrim or Ballymena.

Anyone with information about a vehicle acting suspiciously close to Antrim Hospital at around 8.30pm are asked to contact police.
