Job cuts as textile company closes

A County Tyrone textile company is to close its doors, causing around 200 jobs to be lost.

Strabane-based hosiery firm Adria have said that the closure comes after an increase in competition within the sector.

Earlier today, a spokesperson for Adria said: "Despite the best efforts of a dedicated management team and a loyal workforce, world economics in the textile sector have conspired against us."

The announcement comes after around 360 jobs were axed last year and a further 65 workers were made redundant just before Christmas.

These latest cuts will mean that the company will only employ 40 people in the Strabane area.
