Diageo Moves To Centralise Distribution In NI
Around 40 jobs are to be lost at drinks warehouses in Londonderry and Omagh.
Diageo, the company which owns Guinness, is set to close set to close the facilities to
open a central distribution point near Belfast.
The warehouse at Skeogh Industrial Estate in Derry will close in March 2007, with 24 jobs being axed, while the Omagh plant is due to shut this August, resulting in the loss of 17 positions.
Diageo have said that employees who do not wish to transfer to the new Belfast plant, will be offered a redundancy package.

80 jobs set to go at Waterford plant
A manufacturing facility is set to close in Waterford City with the loss of 80 jobs. Management at HP Chemie say the plant is to close because of a downturn in the international community. Employees were told of the decision over the weekend.

Coleraine Food Plant To Close: 380 Jobs Axed
Around 480 employees are facing the axe as one of Northern Ireland's biggest food processing factories has announced it is to close. The FarmFed chicken processing plant in Coleraine, is believed to have got into difficulty after being faced with stiff competition from low priced poultry imports and increasing costs.

Jobs Boost For Dundalk
Some 40 jobs are to be created over the coming five years in Dundalk by Chinese company Satir, which has decided to locate its European Headquarters in the town. The firm is China's leading thermal imaging system manufacturer and is the first IDA supported Chinese company to locate in Ireland.

Batchelors' Athy Plant To Close

Jobs Loss At Newbridge Packaging Plant
The Quinn Group has announced its decision to close its packaging plant in County Kildare, resulting in the loss of 41 jobs. The Newbridge plant has been in operation since 1987 and became part of the company in May 2004 following its acquisition of the Barlo Group plc.
