Security guard robbed by knifepoint

Detectives in north Belfast have appealed for information following the robbery of a cash and transit vehicle earlier today.

Police have said that the security guard was making a delivery to premises on York Road, close to the junction with Midland close, just before 10.30am, when he was approached by a man armed with a knife.

The man seized the cash box and made off in what is thought to be a green coloured Citroen estate-type car.

The car made off in the direction of the Shore Road and police believe that a second man may have been involved.

The car was later found abandoned in the Rosapenna Street area of the city and the cash box was discovered nearby.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have any information in relation to the robbery, are asked to contact police on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.
