Woman robbed at gunpoint in County Antrim

Police in County Antrim have appealed for information following a robbery at a fast food outlet, in which a woman had a gun put to her head.

Police have said that the female manager of the KFC on the Belfast Road in Carrickfergus was opening the store at around 9.30am yesterday, when she heard a knock at the back door.

When she answered, two armed and masked men forced their way into the premises and proceeded to hold a gun to her head and demand that she hand over the contents of a safe.

The robbers then made off with what police have described as a "substantial" sum of money, which they carried in a black bin bag.

The first robber is described as being around 5' 6" in height and of medium build.

He is said to have been wearing a cream bomber jacket, dark denim jeans, black woolly gloves and a balaclava.

His accomplice is described as 6ft-tall, of slim build, wearing jeans, black woolly gloves and a balaclava.

Detectives have asked for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have any information in relation to it, to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on 0800 555 111.
