Chef to be extradited from USA
A 38-year-old chef if to be extradited from the United States to face charges relating to a break-in at the Special Branch offices in Belfast in March 2002.
Larry Zaitschek, who now lives in New York, was working as a chef at Castlereagh buildings, when dozens of Special Branch files were stolen after an officer was overpowered by a gang which police later claimed belonged to the IRA.
Mr Zaitschek, will be charged with aggravated burglary, assault and imprisonment of a police officer, he also faces two counts of having information likely to be of use to terrorists.
He denies the charges.
Police said they have begun proceedings to seek Mr Zaitschek's extradition.
11-people have been arrested in connection with the Castlereagh inquiry, however so far this is the only charge to be brought forward in relation to it.

Attack Fails To Dim Sunshine Start To Balmoral
As the police set about investigating damage caused to farm machinery at a property in Maghera - while the owner prepared for participation in the famous Royal Ulster Agricultural Show at Balmoral - there was better news for the farming community as the sun shone on the first day of the rural extravaganza in south Belfast's show grounds.

Detectives in Northern Ireland investigating the theft of police Special Branch files are seeking the extradition of a man from the United States. A Special Branch officer was assaulted when three men entered an office inside the police headquarters at Castlereagh on 17 March.

The outgoing PSNI Chief Constable has said he is "frustrated" that the case against Larry Zaitschek collapsed. Sir Hugh Orde (who is pictured here) was commenting today in a BBC Radio Ulster interview on the collapse of the case against an American chef wanted over the hugely damaging Castlereagh Special Branch office break-in.
