19-year-old charged over Derry road death

A 19-year-old man charged with causing the death of a pensioner in County Londonderry by dangerous driving, has been released on bail.

Margaret Chivers, 85, from Drumsurn Road in Limavady, died after a the car in which she was travelling was in collision with another vehicle on the Cam Road near Macosquin at around 2pm yesterday.

Mark Ellis, from Josephine Avenue in Limavady, was driving a car which was in collision with the vehicle in which Mrs Chivers was travelling.

Her daughter was also injured in the crash, and an 18-year-old man, who was a passenger in Mr Ellis' car, remains seriously ill in hospital.

During today's hearing at Coleraine Magistrates Court, Mark Ellis denied charges of causing death and grievous bodily harm by dangerous driving, however admitted to a charge of driving without insurance.

He was bailed to appear in court on October 2.

Belfast man on remand following fatal collision
A Belfast man has been remanded in custody in connection with a car crash in which a 22-year-old man died. Mark John Page, of Joanmount Park in Belfast appeared in court today on charges of dangerous driving causing death, hijacking, and having an offensive weapon.
