Ammunition found in north Belfast raid

Police investigating serious crime in the north Belfast area have seized a gun, ammunition and an undisclosed quantity of cash.

The discovery came after officers searched a number of houses in Westland Road, Westland Drive and the Braniel Estate, as part of the ongoing investigations in the area.

No arrests were made during the operation.

Last week, ousted factions of the UDA fled the area following an ongoing dispute with the leadership of the paramilitary organisation.

On Sunday, police also recovered a quantity of high powered commercial explosives during searches in the neighbouring, loyalist Glencairn area.
