Car park attendant robbed at knifepoint

Police in north Belfast have appealed for information following an armed robbery of a car park attendant yesterday morning.

The incident happened at a car park in the Little Donegal Street area of the city at around 8.15am, when a man armed with a 12 inch kitchen knife approached the car park attendant.

The assailant bundled the man into a car and handcuffed him to the steering wheel with what have been described as a pair of toy handcuffs.

The robber threatened the man with the weapon before stealing three bags containing a substantial sum of cash.

He then got into the passenger's side of the vehicle and told the attendant that they were going for a ride.

The attendant then sounded the car horn and the robber ran off.

The thief is described as being around 5'7 in height, aged in his late 30's, well built and with fair skin.

He was wearing blue jeans, a blue hooded jacket and an orange reflective vest.

Police have said that this was a busy time for the car park and have asked for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or noticed the man running away from the scene, to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.
