Masked man robs north Belfast mini market

An armed robber has made off with a substantial sum of money following a robbery in north Belfast last night.

The masked man, who was armed with a handgun, entered the mini market on the Antrim Road at around 10.15pm and threatened two female members of staff.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Elsewhere, three men have been arrested in connection with serious crime in Co Londonderry.

The men, who are all believed to have loyalist connections, were detained at their homes and taken to Lisburn holding centre for further questioning.

Number of armed robberies in Belfast
Police in Belfast have appealed for information following a spate of armed robberies in Belfast last night and in the early hours of this morning. The first incident happened at around 8pm, when three men, one armed with a screw driver, entered a shop in the My Lady's Road area of the city.

Tayto purchase part of Golden Wonder
County Armagh crisp makers Tayto have stepped in to purchase a portion of rival company Golden Wonder, which went into administration earlier this week. The crisp manufacturer today confirmed buying the Pringles Mini brand section of the business, which will allow 195 of the former employees at its site in Northamptonshire to keep their jobs.
