Polish man charged with Ballymena murder

A Polish man has been remanded in custody charged with the murder of 24-year-old Shirley Finlay in County Antrim in September.

Henryk Gorski, 49, whose address was given as Hill Street in Ballymena, has denied the charges.

Appearing at Larne Magistrates Court draped in a blanket, he also faced charges of raping and threatening to kill another woman in August this year.

He was already in police custody for this charge and was transferred into the custody of Ballymena police on Tuesday.

Described as a vulnerable individual, Shirley Finlay, from Crebilly Road, Ballymena, was found wrapped in a duvet in a car park in the Mount Street of the town on September 19. She had been strangled.
