Two men remanded over child's rape
Four people have appeared in Belfast Magistrates Court facing charges of rape and child cruelty.
Two men, one believed to be the child's uncle, the second man - a friend of the family - have been remanded in custody charged with raping a nine-year-old girl.
The child's uncle is also charged with indecent assault, gross indecent assault and making indecent images of children.
The child's mother, 44, was also remanded in custody charged with child cruelty, while her grandmother, 63, was released on bail and ordered to stay out of east Belfast and away from the child.
The charges are understood to have come after details of the abuse were found written in the girl's diary.
The offences are alleged to have taken place between December 2002 and June this year.

Two charged over child pornography
Two men arrested on Tuesday in connection with an investigation into child pornography in Northern Ireland have been charged with possessing and making indecent images of children. The men were arrested yesterday following a series of police raids investigating a major internet child pornography racket. They will appear in court at a later date.

The PSNI have recorded a 43% increase in the number of searches conducted by the Child Internet Protection Team (CIPT). In 2022, CIPT officers carried out 145 searches, 43% more than 2021, seized thousands of devices and uncovered tens of thousands of indecent images of children.

Campaign Launches Ahead Of Child Sexual Exploitation Day
The PSNI has launched a new awareness campaign of the sexual exploitation of children with a focus on online offending, ahead of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) Day on the 18th March. The Child Internet Protection Team (CIPT) are the busiest they have ever been since their inception in 2010.
