Flight forced to return to Belfast
A flight from Belfast to Southampton had to make an emergency landing after the aircraft experienced difficulties yesterday evening.
The incident happened just before 6.30pm when the Flybe flight containing 54 passengers was forced to return to George Best Belfast City Airport after the pilot reported that he was experiencing technical difficulties.
Emergency services were called to the scene and the nearby Sydenham by-pass in east Belfast was closed until the plane returned.
The aircraft landed safely and there were no injuries.

Bombardier shelves CSeries project
Aircraft manufacturer Bombardier has shelved its planned 110 to 130-seater CSeries airliner as it shifts resources to work on regional jet and turboprop aircraft. Bombardier announced that "present market conditions do not justify the launch of the CSeries jet at this time".

New On-The-Go Recycling Initiative Launches Across Belfast
Belfast City Council and environmental charity, Hubbub, have partnered for a new on-the-go recycling initiative across Belfast city centre, made possible with funding from The Coca-Cola Foundation. Bright colourful bins have been installed in Belfast city centre as well as a number of public parks.

Plane damaged at Belfast International Airport
An easyJet aircraft has been damaged on Belfast International Airport's runway today while readying for departure. The Amsterdam-bound easyJet aircraft, which contained 139 passengers, was damaged when one of the luggage vehicles collided with the 9.30am flight. No one on board the aircraft was injured during the incident.

Lufthansa has announced its first service between Frankfurt and Belfast City Airport, marking the first time the German flag carrier has operated in Northern Ireland. The service, which is the only direct air link between NI and Germany, will operate up to four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
