Attempted abduction in north Belfast

Two children escaped an abduction attempt in County Antrim yesterday evening.

The two seven-year-old girls were in a park in the Clifton Park Avenue area of north Belfast at around 5.30pm, when they were approached by a man and a woman in a car.

The woman grabbed one of the girls by the wrist and tried to pull her into the vehicle, however the pair sped off when the second child began to scream.

The woman is described as having long blonde hair, while the man is said to have had a scar under his nose and was wearing a white coloured baseball cap. They were also travelling in a red coloured car.

Police investigating the incident have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the attempted abduction, noticed the couple in the area or who may have any information in connection with it, to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.
