First super-college to be created in Belfast
The city of Belfast is to get it's first super-college.
Belfast Institute of Further and Higher Education will merge with Castlereagh College in August this year and will be known as the Belfast Metropolitan College.
The merger is expected to be the first of six super-colleges, which the Department of Education is planning to create throughout Northern Ireland.
The plans for the college, as well as the course prospectus for next year are due to be released later today.

Heavy Snow Closes Over 80 Schools
Over 80 schools across Northern Ireland have been closed as the heavy snow continues to cause disruption on Tuesday morning. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, as the snow is continuing to affect many roads. Areas which have been majorly disrupted include Lisburn, Castlereagh and Carryduff.

Tourism NI has announced the launch of a new accredited training course, designed to encourage people to 'Get Into Tourism'. The organisation has teamed up with Belfast Metropolitan College to deliver the free Level 2 City and Guilds qualifications.

NI Further Education Colleges Merge
The 16 further education colleges across Northern Ireland have merged to create six new ‘super colleges’. The merger of the colleges to six area based colleges is the first major aspect of the Government’s FE Means Business strategy to be implemented and will see widespread changes to what further education colleges do and how they do it.
